Carpet Replacement

When we moved into Scottish Gardens my biggest concern was the carpet. I could tell by looking at it that it was very old and requested that it be changed but the manager wouldn't comply. After we moved in we began to notice that it smelled like cat urine and went back and forth with the manager and owners. It took months but we finally got them to change our carpet. It was a lot of work! Here is our furniture out on the lawn.
Our empty apartment. We waited for hours on the floor for the carpet people to show up. It was very stressful thinking that they weren't gonna show after we had completely cleared the carpet.
Everything stuffed into the kitchen and bathrooms.
Once they changed the carpet in our room we had to move everything from Preston's room into our room.
When they started pulling the carpet back you could see all the stains.
And this was the padding at the entrance to our bedroom....gone.
Our beautiful new carpet!!!! We are so happy.
Preston likes it too! He kept saying "new carpet" and petting it.

It's so nice to have clean, new carpet!

Valentine's Day

We had a very low-key Valentine's Day which was just perfect this year. We weren't really planning on doing anything on actual Valentine's Day but I decided I wanted to go to dinner so we brought Preston with us to Chili's. I did call ahead seating so we got right in! It was a dream. Preston was pretty good overall and we really enjoyed being together. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have these two boys in my life.
Unfortunately I only got a picture with one of my Valentine's.

Tractor Riding

Preston loves his tractor that he got from Grandpa and Grandma Carter for Christmas.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

Jessica and Baby Sofia

My cousin Jessica had her baby girl this morning and we got to go visit them both. It was the first time Preston interacted with such a little baby. He wasn't very interested and just liked playing around in the room, but he did want me to lift him up to look at her in the bassinet and then before we left he sat in my lap and we held her. He was so cute patting her head and trying to pet her face. He looked so big next to her!

Congratulations Jessica and Sergio! She is perfect!

Sweet Things

Preston is such a sweet boy and is amazing me daily with the things he says. We have begun having Preston repeat prayers and I guess we always say the same line "Thank you for this day". Last week I prompted him "thank you..." and he said "thank you for this day." It was so cute and I am so happy that he is learning about prayer and giving thanks!
Since he was a newborn one of the songs we sing is "I am a Child of God". Lately we've been singing only that. Tonight I was trying to calm him down and started singing something else and he said, "No! Child of God." Aaron and I were both shocked because he has never named it before and I never really knew how much he liked that song. Then, while I was singing he kind of sang along. It melted our hearts.
I absolutely love this stage when every day he surprises me with something new. He is getting better at listening to mama and is so independent. He will often walk with me rather than me putting him in a cart or carrying him. He loves giving smooches and will sometimes walk up to me and say "I want a smooch" and then give me a kiss and walk away. We love the memories we are making with him and couldn't imagine life any other way. He is such a joy!
